December Update
almost 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 23, 2019 at 06:26:01 PM

Normally we are really excited to share our progress with you, but this is not an update we are happy to make. Due to some delays, our updated timeline has us fulfilling several months later than we'd planned, and we are very sorry about that.

Updated Timeline

January 2020 - Digital game released, production begins

Spring 2020 - Physical game fulfilled

What Happened

As is the way of Kickstarters, we thought we had a nearly finished game, and in our last rounds of playtesting, we made some design changes to the physical game components. We think the final version will be worth the wait, but it does take more time to make these changes.

The problem with making changes upstream is that it pushes everything back- we handed the text off to Elsa much later than we'd planned, and will do the same with Robin and layout. It's not what we wanted, but we are committed to making the best version of Rosenstrasse we can, and we really appreciate your patience.

Editing & Layout

Elsa is nearly done with edits, and we are really happy with her work!

Robin provided a sample layout because we're coming out of edits later than planned, and her work knocked our socks off!

Production

We are partnering with Whatz Games to produce Rosenstrasse. They manufactured Sign by Thorny Games and we were very impressed with their quality and production turnaround. Unfortunately, turning in print files later than we'd anticipated means that production will be interrupted by Chinese New Year in January & February.

We are very sorry to not be able to fulfill our original promise to you, our supportive backers. We would not be able to produce this beautiful version of the game without you- we're confident it'll be worth the wait, but we know the delay isn't ideal- we deeply appreciate your patience.

In which Mo went to XOXO, Elsa won a Hugo and we tell you what's up :)
about 2 years ago – Mon, Sep 23, 2019 at 10:20:54 PM

Rosenstrasse was a featured game at XOXO!

XOXO is an experimental festival in Portland, Oregon that celebrates independently produced art and technology with a mix of social meetups, showcase events and thought-provoking conference talks. With 1,200 amazing creatives in attendance, we had a great weekend introducing Rosenstrasse to many people who are new to both analog roleplaying and serious games. We ran demo versions of the game, answered questions, and talked about the inspiring ways that games affect us as players.

Thanks to everyone who dropped by to see what we were about, to Andy Baio and Andy McMillan for creating such a delightful, progressively conscious space, and the organizers and volunteers who made us feel so welcome.

Our editor, Elsa Sjunneson Henry won a Hugo!

Elsa with her Hugo!

We always knew Elsa was the best, but now the whole world does too! At Worldcon in Dublin, the 77th World Science Fiction Convention, Elsa became the first deafblind person to win the prestigious Hugo award for co-editing Uncanny Magazine‘s Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction!  Please take a moment to visit Elsa's reflection at Tor.com on what it means to win a Hugo as a blind person.  We're super proud of her trailblazing, extraordinary work, and honored that she chose to bring her talents to the Rosenstrasse project.

In fact, Elsa is hard at work on the game right now! Just before XOXO, we finished a long series of design and text refinements and handed over our labor of love to her to work her editing magic. We're very proud of how the game support and scaffolding has expanded, and we can't wait to share it with the world.

Pre-orders are OPEN! XOXO Festival! ENnies! And an update on shipping charges
over 2 years ago – Fri, Jul 19, 2019 at 08:18:13 PM

At long last!

We've opened pre-orders for those who missed the campaign- you can find them here:

https://rosenstrasse.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

You can pre-order physical and digital versions of the game, donate a copy, and order copies of War Birds. Backers who pledged during the campaign will be able to add these items to their orders when we send out surveys later in the year, so if you backed the campaign you don't need to pre-order!

XOXO Festival

Rosenstrasse will be featured at XOXO Festival in Portland, Oregon September 5-8th in the Tabletop category!

Shipping

Unfortunately shipping will end up costing more than we anticipated. We are bummed that the estimates we gave you were wrong and we've subsidized some of the higher costs with funds from the campaign in order to keep your costs as low as possible. We thought our original estimates were very realistic, and are very sorry about that.

Right now, the estimates for shipping one box set are: US $15, Canada $18, International $22.

Shipping will be calculated based on weight in Backerkit, so if you order an additional box set or a copy of War Birds, shipping costs won't double. We apologize for the increase in shipping- if you have any questions or comments please contact us via email at Rosenstrasse@unrulydesigns.com.
